Dr. Robert Leahy is an associate professor at Stetson University. He collaborated with Dr. Patrick Coggins, who founded the first Multicultural Education Institute in Florida. Dr. Leahy was an international student advisor at Cornell University, where he received his PhD, and at the University of Tampa, where he taught in the philosophy department. While teaching elementary, middle, high school and college students, he developed authentic educating to enhance meaningful learning and growth toward authenticity. Authentic educating has practical methods to help close the achievement gap. His articles appear in Educational Theory, College Teaching, Kappa Delta Pi, Journal of Research and Development in Education, and Counseling and Values. He is completing the book Authentic Educating: A Theory to Practice.
